What is the Neighborhood Watch?

Your neighborhood watch is composed strictly of volunteers from the community. The purpose of the neighborhood watch is to be extra eyes and ears for our officers to protect the residents of Lake Mohawk from harm and their possessions from theft. Watch members also assist in emergency situations. Simply, we wish to keep Lake Mohawk a wonderful safe place in which to live.

Watch members must pass a criminal background check and are pledged to keep any issues discussed at meetings confidential. No names are mentioned during briefings on potential problems or ongoing criminal investigations. If criminals are apprehended, we find out who they were just like you from the news media.

The organization provides:

• Support to the Lake Mohawk Sheriff’s Department through a program of effective surveillance and anonymous reporting of suspicious or potentially criminal activity that may affect Lake community members and/or their property.
• Material and personnel for the implementation and operation of programs to improve safety and
  security for the community as a whole.
• Training and support for individual community members to improve their personal safety, security
  and assure their physical well-being.
